Breaking the Gates
Isaiah 45:2King James Version (KJV)
2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
Great promises from the scriptures as our God sets his people free by breaking down the gates of brass and cutting down the bars of iron.
But hold on a second, who are these people behind locked gates of brass and bars of iron that our redeemer is promising to break down?
Gates are access points or channels to a place. Could be a house, estate, city, town etc.
Gates are put in place to either allow access/entry to or exit from a place. Gates also deny access to uninvited guests (gate crashers) because if there are no gates people will have unfettered access, like an all comers affair.
So Gates are put in place to control access, that is who comes in or goes out of a place.
Generally there are two Kinds of spiritual gates.
- Heavens gates: (Flood gates of heaven)
- Hell’s gates (Gates of hell will not prevail against the church).
The two function conversely when one gate is opened the other is closed and vice-versa. For instance when heavens gates of blessing, success, abundance, wealth which are attributes of heaven is opened to you(open heavens), the gates of hell is closed, attributes of hell such as poverty, sickness, disease and failure is closed to the individual.
Our Bible reference for this truth can be found in Deuteronomy 28 but time and space will not permit us post the whole chapter. We are encouraged to read in our Private moments.
An overview of the chapter clearly separates blessings from curses. God pronounced blessings and much later, curses if the Israelites chose to obey or disobey the law.
Verses 2-11 reels out phrases of blessings
Blessed shall you be in the city and in the field.
Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body(health)
Blessed shall be the fruit of thy basket(work) and so on
It culminates with verse 12 where the gates and doors of blessings(heaven) are open. The windows of heaven to rain down blessings so “open heaven” signifies outpouring of blessing. So the gates represent the channels by which the blessing flow through.
Deuteronomy 28:12New International Version (NIV)
12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.
On the contrary when the gates of hell are opened, that person experiences ‘closed heavens’ designated as gates of brass and bars of iron a situation where attributes such as sickness, disease, failure etc are visible in the persons life.
Deuteronmony. 28;15-22 reels out curses
Cursed in the city and in the field
Cursed be thy basket
Cursed be the fruit of the body etc.
And it culminates with saying that their heaven shall be closed (brass) and their earth (iron) which signifies that curses are a function of a closed heaven. Simply put a situation where the gates of blessing have been closed or locked against a person or a people.
Deuteronomy 28:23-24
23 And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
24 The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Whoever operates under an open heavens operates under blessings while anyone operating under a closed heaven operates under curses because verse 23 says the heaven gates over such individuals is brass and under him the earth are bars of iron. The earth gates (bars of iron) is closed because the heaven gates (gates of brass) over such a person or persons is closed. So our earth(physical) will only respond or yield to heaven(spiritual). It will only reflect your spiritual narrative .It becomes automatic for the bars of iron(earth closed gates) to swing open immediately the gates of brass(Heaven closed gates) have been smashed open.
Are you operating behind closed doors or gates?
Are you operating under or behind the gates of brass and the bars of iron.
You needed to breakout from the viscious circle of curses.
Anyone operating under closed heaven or behind the gates of brass and the bars of iron will not experience the blessings of God rather they will experience frustration, hard-life, sickness, disease etc. Those are the characteristics of closed doors or gates.
Galatians 3:13 says
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”’
So Jesus paid the price he broke the gates ,cut the bars of iron for you and I to be delivered and set free from curses,
Psalm 107:15-16King James Version (KJV)
15 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
16 For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder
How do I enforce this victory Christ has won for me?
- Matthew 7:7-8 says ask and ye shall be given, so it all starts by asking in prayers.
- Fellowship under the right atmosphere or spiritual climate. Worship under open heavens guarantees open heaven so where we worship matters. Isaiah 10:27 also says by the reason of the anointing every burden shall be lifted and every yoke is destroyed. The anointing (rain) will unlock and melt every gate open, so as we fellowship under a right spiritual cloud or atmosphere (anointed space) we experience open heaven and deliverance from curses.
- Live spirit led lives. We cannot continue to walk in the flesh and expect grace to abound (open heavens). We are also warned in the scriptures not to fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.
I pray for you that you will receive the grace to enforce the victory Christ has won for you and your heaven will remain continually open in Jesus mighty name.
